Won't be long now and we'll be able to take home our puppy!
Caitlin and Devin play in a wading pool fashioned into a holding pen for the
pups. I don't think it's a coincidence that the owners selected yellow for
the color of the pool. Probably best to hide unsightly stains. |
 |
As a last treat for the kids before heading off to another
year of school, we went to Braums. Devin shows us how to really enjoy ice
cream! |
 |
We went to see
Blue Man Group in
concert. If you ever have a chance to see these guys, don't miss it! It was
awesome, very enjoyable, fun for the whole family. |
 |
Devin just gets smarter every day. Here's a new invention
of his, skate-mopping. |
 |
Devin and Caitlin all dressed up for the first day back to
school...yeah! |
 |
Angela and I take a quick quiet opportunity to fly a kite
we bought at NASA's Johnson Space Center last month. I always wanted to fly
the space shuttle. |
 |
Because of Devin's highly developed coordination (for a 5
year old), our neighbor, Mr. (Coach) Camacho, has asked him to join his 2nd
and 3rd grade soccer team for their practices. Of course he's too young to
play in the games, but the practice is great for him and he loves it. |

 |
For Labor Day, Brian Mayfield got the whole
Sycamore gang back
together. We had a blast talking over old times and catching up on news.
Sycamore's last concert in El Paso gave the guys some time to hop over
into Mexico where Todd bought this awesome wrestling mask which Devin models
here in his best "Grrr..." attitude. |

At the new house, I found this Mud-Dauber nest which when I
pulled down found to have two interesting inhabitants, both dead. This
single level dwelling contains the bodies of one wasp and one spider. So the
perplexing question becomes, did the spider kill the wasp and then take him
into the nest to eat, or did the momma wasp kill the spider and deposit him
at the bottom of the nest for the larvae to eat. After a quick web search, I
found the case to be the latter as is
explained here. |

Kristen Lewis gets taken off-guard when about 30 of her
closest friends scream "Surprise!" at her birthday party. |
 |
Dennis and Judith (my sister) and Rachel came into town to
see everyone before Rachel goes up to the Pentagon for a year of duty as an
undercover agent (no I'm not making that up or exaggerating). We got
together at Debbie's (my other sister) house where I spotted this old 45 RPM
record holder that looks like a fuzzy wuzzy creature. I remembered playing
with it when I was small. We pulled it out and Judith immediately remembered
it as actually belonging to her. The sisters had a fun time going through
all of the 45's that were inside, immediately remembering whose was whose.
Then they put the records on an old record player and started dancing all of
the "old" dances to the hits of yester-year. It was quite a scene. |

 |
Someone say "amen!" If everything goes right we should be
closing on the house at the end of September. Here are the kitchen
cabinets, finally in.
Here's a cool design-thingy that Angela saw somewhere, so we added it to
our dining room ceiling.
Here's the front of the house. Not much has changed here from last month.
Most of the work is on the inside. |

 |
We try to visit the puppies once a week. Here four of them
rip at my shoelaces.
And Caitlin picks the one we want to keep out of the litter. We bought a
collar to put on it so we could remember which ones is ours. |
