Greg turns 33 while Caitlin and Bailey Cross look on.
Devin ever so daintily savors the numeric chocolate. |

One early April night the moon had a very defined halo
around it. It didn't show up as well in the photo. I hear that
if the moon has a halo around it, it will definitely rain within 48 hours.
That prophecy was not fulfilled. |

There were three Easter egg hunts that we attended this
month. Number one was a Flashlight Hunt at dusk sponsored by Arlington
Parks and Recreation. Ooh...spooky. The kids show off their new
Easter baskets. |

 |
Second hunt was with our church group.
Greg uses a couple of pond reeds to terrorize the children.
A snake warms himself by the pond. Needless to say, we didn't hide
any eggs near his area.

Grandma Reid, Angela and Caitlin in their Easter best. |
 |
Time for the annual Speed Easter egg hunt at my brother,
Randy's, place in Waxahachie, TX. Devin runs around apparently
aimlessly, but in reality he is honed in on brightly plumed ellipsoids, some
containing candy and some money. |

|
The hunters await the start.
Devin gets some air time on a tire swing while Angela cheers and jeers
him on.
The South 40 at the Speed's, covered with wheat.
Angela drags her feet through the wheat fields while riding in the bed of
the truck.
An ancient rake, a tool pulled behind horses, oxen or mules to gather
hay, sits on their property. It has been there so long that a tree had time
to grow up through it, encompassing parts of it as it grew. |

Our house is being built one piece a day. I think
tomorrow they will be installing another bucket of dirt in the yard, unless
it rains and then it could be put off for another week. This is going
slooooowwww.
But, we still go out there and imagine there is a house and feed the
horses behind our newly installed back fence.
Caitlin has a good idea of how to feed the horse without risking losing
her fingers; put the carrot on a stick. |
 |
It's warmed up enough to start playing in the water.
Here Caitlin does her impersonation of an African woman coming back from the
well. |

 |
Our church kicked off the building of our new sanctuary
with a huge ground-breaking service followed by a barbecue lunch on the
grounds. Here our pastor and his wife dig a ceremonial hole to
initiate the beginning of the building. |

 |
Angela installed a tree swing on one of the very large
trees on our land where the new house is being built. Lots of fun!
Yes, I'm a Pepper! |
 |
Devin caught his first fish! And what a catch.
This 1.4 pound, 16 inch long catfish was caught at the Lake Joe Pool Marina.
A fish in one hand and a lion (stuffed) in the other. |
