My brother Ron revealed the long-lost photos of Greg's childhood. A
found treasure! I will try to give you one picture a month of my crazy
childhood days.
This is my banana-seat bike. When everyone else was getting BMX bikes,
I still had my banana-seat. I was embarrassed, but my friends all thought
it was sooo cool with it's 5 speed, car-like, gear-shifter, chopper-like
handlebars, and chrome tire-guards. |
 |
I just thought this was funny of the family crammed into the
back-seat of my car, Angela holding a wedding gift for a friend.
Angela's mom was in the front seat. |

November saw the release of Sycamore's album "Numb." We
started recording this album two years ago! After finally signing a record
deal with True Tunes/Rhythm
House, we were able to set in motion the
release of the album...finally. This is taken at the Arlington Release
Party concert. Shown are Todd, Nathan, and Lamar (left to right). Not
pictured is Sean, drummer. |
 |
At the Dallas Release Party at The Door in Deep Ellum, we saw a girl
that looked so similar to the mannequin on the front of the album it
freaked us out.
BTW, you can buy your copy of "Numb" at www.sycamoreband.com.
Since marriage/daddy-hood happened, I don't play with the band anymore. It
was a tough choice. But on this album, I played guitar, wrote many of the
songs and co-produced it.

Caitlin and lemon teeth. |
 |
Caitlin as biker chick. Hmm... I don't know about this development. |
 |
Devin and Caitlin about to get swarmed by ducks afflicted with the Mad
Duck Disease further inflamed and in a feeding-frenzy. Watch out Devin,
that white one is about to run off with the whole loaf. |
 |
82 year old Grandpa Cantrell, Angela's dad's side, with the kids. He
drove himself down from Iowa...impressive. |
 |
Okay, I know this is really freaky, but it's sort of a performance art
piece. Caitlin with multiple Barbie brushes between her toes. Those are
black toenails with white bats painted on them, a leftover Halloween
theme. I know, we have too much idle time on our hands it seems. |
 |
Angela's mom, Loretta, visits. We took her out to the land we are buying. It's 1.5 acres of
solid 30 foot Oak trees. We plan to build there at some point in the
future. When looking for land, I wanted to be in the country, and Angela's
stipulation was a nearby Tom Thumb and Starbucks. This is a perfect
combination being that while located in Arlington, it's very rural, and
her stores are about 2 miles away.
Yeah, Angela's 5'9" and still the shortest one in her family!

 |
Angela teeters on the roof putting up Christmas lights. She's such a
perfectionist. The end result is really cool. |
 |
The Speed house is ready to guide Santa in with our runway lights. |
 |
Thanksgiving at Mamaw Speed's. |
 |
Thanksgiving at the Drabik's, Angela's sister. |
 |
Tis the season for visitors. Along with Angela's Grandpa and
Thanksgiving, my great uncles/aunts from upstate California and Washington
state visited (Jody and Jean and Maureen and Woody). We're eating at my
parents' house. Why is it when people visit, you eat and eat and eat? I
guess there's nothing to talk about. |
 |
I had to include this. it's so cute! |
 |
I leave you with a safety warning. Little Jacob Drabik is transfixed by
the fire in the fireplace. Mesmerized even. It's so colorful, bright,
pretty, exciting, hot! This moment in picture is immediately before Jacob
couldn't help but reach out and touch the glass to get closer to this
wonder of nature. He won't do that again too soon. |
